This TV would be perfect if they included the headphone jack. The 5000 does not have one. The 4000 model did have one and it was a great help for the housemembers who are both hard of hearing and unable to remember how to use wireless headphones.......

I bought my first HDTV last August. Actually it was a birthday present even though I paided half. Then my father bought a bigger HDTV for a HD converter box from CABLEVISION. Well I bought this HDTV from AMAZON for my mother in the upstairs living room for my satellite tv not just to expierence HD but to expierence real digital tv. Well I just bought a smaller HDTV for my father in the garage for father's day ( I had to order another HD converter box from CABLEVISION. I now made my family HD crazy! But my family is so serious about television I decided it would be smart to make all our tv service with as much HD as possible and be 100% digital. I actually have both cable and satellite (DISH NETWORK) because I wanted it both ways (now that's being serious). I now wonder how many U.S. households have four HDTVs? I am a very happy one of them. ......

Very satisfied with this Sony HDTV. Easy setup. Nice style. Great HDTV images and color. Nice sound. Outstanding movie picture quality when using a DVD player. Okay for PC use, but display quality does not match most PC monitors that normally have higher resolution screens with more pixels. ......

This is a very pretty TV, very easy to set up, lightweight, but sturdy. Has a good picture. Just hope it lasts longer than the 18 mo old Samsung that died on me. Would have cost $350 to fix. I was told that Sony is a very good brand. We'll see.......

A good tv, took a bit of tweeking before it looked perfect, but what tv doesn't? Bought it for my fiance and I for when we get married and need a TV, it's small light weight, so I can pick it up and move it whenever I need to , whether if it's a quick room change or when i move out of house to go back to college. And the best of all it wasn't too expensive, and came with way more outputs and inputs than i know what to do with.......

We knew we wanted this TV and just set out to find the best deal we could. ABC Warehouse and Best Buy were within $50 of each other. This TV on Amazon was $300 less. It seemed too good to be true and we were hesitant. I don't know anyone who has ordered such a large item from Amazon and have heard it's hard to get anyone on the phone from Amazon. But I found the number if you have questions about electronics. I called and spoke to a nice and friendly gentleman who answered all my questions about the warranty, delivery and purchasing. After reading other reviews too and after speaking with this guy I went ahead with the purchase. I watched the tracking of the TV for a few days and as described, the delivery company called me up to say the TV could be delivered tomorrow to us (Friday) or Monday and gave me a 4 hr window. So the next day, towards the end of the 4 hr window, but still within it, two professional deliverymen arrived and brought in our TV. They unpackaged the TV and they even set it up with our new HDMI cable and new HD Directv receiver. I was told they wouldn't set it up, just plug it in to make sure it worked. I was very impressed with the ease of purchase, the fast (it came earlier than expected) and easy delivery. I would recommend buying a large TV from Amazon. My husband said at one point he thought the sound from the TV had some static but it seems to be an isolated incident. The TV is awesome and the picture is amazing. The only downside is that the price is always dropping. It was like $70 less the day after we ordered the TV, but that's to be expected with electronics!......

I was torn between ordering this Sony, and a similar equally highly rated Samsung LN52B630, but was leaning toward the Sony because the set was going in a room with several windows so reflection was a consideration. The Sony screen had a satin finish instead of the Samsung's high gloss. Several on-line reviewers had noted that the reflective surface of the Samsung was a problem. When Amazon.com offered the TV for several hundred less than the best price I could find on the Samsung, it was a no brainer. The free shipping and no sales tax clinched the deal. And I didn't have to go to Best Buy and have some sales person pressure me to buy some grossly overpriced cables. I ordered this TV Monday, July 20, 2009 and received it Friday morning, July 24. I received a call Thursday from the delivery service, and another call from the driver Friday morning, to verify that I would be at home to accept the TV. The set was delivered by the driver and an assistant, placed where I requested, and removed from the box. The driver asked if I wanted the box and packing removed, which was great for me. The overall experience could not have been more positive. The TV itself is amazing. High-def cable content looks almost 3D. As would be expected the picture is slightly less intense than my old 34" Sony HD CRT bought in 2004, and the sound from the TV without external speakers is somewhat lower quality. But that old monster weighed 175 pounds, and probably used several times more energy. This TV will be the perfect centerpiece for my home theater. I strongly recommend this television and Amazon.com. ......

I received this tv one week ago from Amazon's delivery service and it is a beautiful tv and the picture is awesome! Problem is, when I turn it on in the morning or when it has been sitting for more than a couple of hours turned off and turn it on, there is no sound? I have to turn it off & on several times before the sound kicks in. I have contacted Amazon several times and they tell me that I have to contact Sony and trouble shoot the problem with them myself! And I have to get a case number from Sony to prove that I contacted them. This is ridiculous and insulting to think that I spent this kind of money on a product from Amazon and one week into it, I have a problem with the tv having a defect and I'm supposed to contact Sony and take time out of my day doing so, sitting on hold, waiting for a repairman to come out at his convenience? Amazon should replce this tv at once! I'm very dissapointed in Amazon on the way their handling this situation and would urge anyone thinking about buying this tv to think about this first... Revise: 7/27/09 Amazon is sending me a new Sony BRAVIA V-SERIES KDL-525100 today after talking with a Sony rep for 45 minutes this morning and troubleshooting the sound problem, they determined in fact the tv is defective. I will keep my fingers crossed that this one performs without any problems.......

We bought this TV a couple of weeks ago, and the picture is beautiful. We love the look of the TV, the colors etc. but this past week we have been having problems with the sound. When we turn the TV "ON", sometimes there is no sound. Our only solution is to turn the TV "OFF" then back "ON" again, and the sound is there. Once "ON" we don't have any further problems with the sound. Since this problem has occured several times now, we called Sears and they are going to replace it with a brand new TV. Hopefully, this isn't a known problem with this particular model.......

I just wanted to give my experience with the price recent price fluctuations. I had been thinking of purchasing this unit (KDL-52V5100), and when I saw it drop to $1499, I bought it. Since then there have been 2 price increases. However, I want to make it clear that Amazon has never asked me to pay anything additional. I had been promised a delivery date of Friday, and when it changed to Tuesday (4 days later), I wrote to Amazon, and they gave me a credit to compensate me. While I understand some frustration with the price fluctuations, Amazon has been very good to work with in my experience, and I believe they are just responding to market conditions, just like the airline industry does with its pricing. The moral of all this is that if you are ready to buy, and the price is right, then don't wait. I will add to this review if I don't receive the product in a timely fashion, or if it has some problem; otherwise, I am happy with Amazon, and will buy from them in the future.......

On the recommendation of a relative who also purchased this TV, I researched this model and did some homework on LED-backlit LCDs. The attractive slim shape and lower energy consumption were huge pluses, as saving a few bucks a month is a good thing during this age of high electricity costs. This is my first LCD HDTV (I'm a late bloomer, I guess) as I was upgrading from a reliable (but very bulky and backbreakingly heavy) Sony 29" WEGA CRT. I knew I wanted something light and sleek-looking (I didn't want to deal with a huge monster 61"+ DLP system, that's for sure), and Samsung's 7000 series 40" LED HDTV delivers in spades. For someone who moves around a lot, this TV is perfect (I can carry it easily by myself if I had to). Larger, older units are a pain to package and move, plus there's a greater chance of damage by the movers. And it just looks sexy! Friends who have dropped by have commented on just how thin it is. The picture is amazingly clear and HD programs and movies look jaw-droppingly beautiful. I haven't experienced any issues with uneven backlighting as with some reports I've read about this model, and even the built-in speakers are adequate until I can get another surround sound system (I have one for my computer, will probably get an all digital satellite 5.1 for this TV). And the price was just right as I picked this unit up for 1-6-0-0 (my budget was 2-0-0-0 max) right here on Amazon. I still haven't messed with the Internet options yet but should be doing so soon. I have hooked it up to my computer via HDMI/DVI and digital media like Blu-Ray quality movies come in crystal clear. Viewing angles aren't too much of a problem for me as my place is relatively small. This TV is loaded with options and the menu system is very helpful in accessing things like Web content, galleries, playing music, and movies off a digital device like an external hard drive or USB flash thumb drive. Definitely huge leaps forward in making a TV that can be integrated easily with your computer, Internet, games, etc. The quality of Samsung computer monitors was indisputable as my workplace has upgraded to all new 22" Samsungs recently, and my own office had a 32" Samsung (non-LED) LCD TV that I was fairly impressed with. I knew I had to purchase this TV after seeing the 6000 series in action at my local Best Buy (they didn't have the right size for the 7000 series I wanted, and were more expensive than Amazon to boot). For the price, it's a great TV and truly an integral part of one's all-in-one entertainment system. If and when I ever move to a bigger place, I might consider moving my 40" into the bedroom and upgrade to a 55" for the living room. Samsung has done it again!......

I've been researching TV's for the past couple of months now. I own a samsung 26 inch hd tv thats 1080i that I got two years ago and wanted to get an upgrade. After reading numerous reviews I decided to go with an Led backlit TV over a plasma since I play a lot of video games and was worried about the burn in. I like the previous reviewer read the cnet review and was a little worried about the off-angle viewing and the variable backlighting with this most recent model of tvs. I've had this tv for about a week now and absolutely love it. The TV itself looks amazing. The stand is both sturdy and stunning. The picture quality is absolutely breathtaking. I have little to no problem with the glare. The viewing angle is extremely wide I have yet to encounter a problem and the lighting is very uniform. This tv produces the most true blacks I've seen on any TV. Images really pop out on this set. I can definitely tell the difference between this tv set and my old one. Another great feature is all the additional content the TV has. It has recipes with step by step pictures, teaches you how to stretch massage etc. I can't say enough about this tv. I highly recommend this tv especially if you own a PS3 and or blu-ray player. ......

This is my first HDTV and I must say the picture is stunning. The TV appearance also looks great and has many great features. But I've noticed that when the picture background is light, that the corners are darker - like a smudged type look. I'd say this affects one square inch in each corner. Asside from this, the TV is great - but once I have noticed this I have found it annoying. I spoke to Samsung and they were very nice and they assured me the problem will be fixed. They put me in touch with a service technician and they are replacing the entire TV panel next Friday. I still am enjoying the TV very much - it has a beautiful picture - I hope the new TV panel eliminates the small problem. I got the new panel installed - and the dark corner problem is gone - The picture now is totally remarkable !!!! ......

I have been researching televisions for quite some time now and was originally going to go with a Samsung 4 months ago but when I found the 2009 line would be coming out I figured I'd wait and boy am I glad I did. When I first saw some reviews on Cnet I was a bit concerned, even though they listed the 40B7000 as their top choice they stated some cons regarding the viewing angle and some issues they noticed with the LED's being visible sometimes. This made me decide that I would view the screens in person as opposed to just purchasing on Amazon as I intended to do and really didn't think I needed to see in person. Never the less I'm glad I did because any fear I had was immediately irrelevant once I saw the set in person. Needless to say I saw none of the issues mentioned on Cnet and the set blew me away that I couldn't wait any longer and purchased right then! I have had the set for about 2 weeks and I kick myself every time I turn it on, everything looks just AMAZING!! It is the most beautiful TV I have ever seen. My mother and 2 of my friends who were in the market for TV's came over and all of them are purchasing the same set. I plan on getting the 55'' when I move into my new house! There are so many features I haven't even been able to figure out yet. You will not be disappointed with this product. Thank you Samsung!!!......

Although the list price for this HDTV would be out of my budget, I purchased this amazing flat screen from Amazon for a little over $2,300. In my local electronics store, the Sony was my 2nd favorite (after the Kuro). The Samsung LEDs were close behind. What makes this unit ideal for me is the fact that is still has pretty decent built-in speakers. I personally hate having a sound system hooked up to my TV. I like to be able to turn on my TV and go. I made the salesman at my local store demonstrate the built-in sound to make sure it would be sufficient for my needs. (I was really planning on buying it there but they raised the price overnight and then I found Amazon's amazing price which saved me over $600!) Since we were originally thinking we were going to have to buy both a new TV (to replace our dying projection HDTV) and a home theater sound system (since none of the new flat screens seemed to have speakers at all anymore), we were able to apply that budget to this superior TV instead, which arguably has one of the best pictures available. Now that it is installed at home, I am absolutely thrilled! I am more than happy with the built-in sound. I admit that those who are used to having booming surround sound audio would probably be disappointed, but the sound set at medium levels is very nice for day to day viewing. If you turn it up for serious BluRay DVD viewing, it is pretty impressive as well. The picture is truly stunning! I must give kudos to Amazon for their customer service as well. The first unit we were shipped turned out to have a cracked interior screen. The box was undamaged and everything seemed fine until we powered it up. There were massive cracks going across the screen (actually a picture of cracks since the exterior was fine, just the interior screen of some kind was broken - it was obvious it had been dropped at some point.) I called Amazon immediately and they took care of it quickly and courteously and now we have our beautiful new TV. Yes, I would have rather had a perfect unit the first time out, but the money we saved over purchasing from our local superstore was more than worth it. ......

TV was great while I temporarily had it for 2 weeks. Amazon's prices was too good to be true and you know what they say when that happens. They sold it at a 35% discount which is more than any of the vendors they had on their own site. The first shipment, the tv's front casing (boarder around the screen) had severe scratches and scoff marks which clearly indicates that it is a used one. Contacted Amazon to get a replacement and informed them to ensure me that I will get a BRAND NEW tv and not a used one. They told me that I am guaranteed a brand new one. Received a 2nd tv and the same severe scratches and scoff marks around the tv's casing as well. I ended up sending both tv bad and requested a refund. DO NOT buy anything through Amazon LLC if they are the one's selling it. I am extremely disappointed as the tv was great. I would not purchase the used ones as 2 of the 3 was returned by me. Used flat screens are high risk as you never know how long they have been used, i.e. how long the screens were burning.......

Great TV for the price, it has all you need and more. Excellent picture quality. Im buying more.......

I just acquired one of these 46" XBR8 units. As others have said, the image quality is nothing short of awesome. I threw on my DVE calibration disc, and very little tweaking was required to get it just spot on. I do recommend enabling "Full Pixel" mode, and turning off the MotionFlow stuff - I find the frame creation to make the motion unnatural and kind of creepy (and on some material, it can add artifacting). If you are an HT junkie though, this is one *sweet* TV. Go check it out.......

Customer Buzz

Does anyone know why the newest iteration of the XBR series (XBR 8) has 120hz motion flow while the previous one (XBR 7) has 240hz. thanks PS - my rating has no relevance - only picked it so my question could be submitted......
